Art’s Cameras Plus Celebrates Its 50th Anniversary—And the Art of Photography

May 30, 2015

Photography is a rapidly developing field, but it is still a special art form and the best way to capture a feeling, a moment, and a memory. Art’s Cameras Plus has also been through some great changes in its 50-year history, and we’re proud to say we’ve helped thousands of people take the pictures that tell their unique stories.

Our story is unique, too. Our business was founded by Arthur Miresse in 1967—in the age of film, and before pictures could be snapped and shared in an instant. We remember the pop of old flashbulbs, dark rooms, and slide projectors. We recall the days of waiting and wondering if pictures “turned out.” We still love film and prints, but we’ve developed as well. We appreciate how digital technology has changed our industry. Photography is no longer just for photographers: it’s a part of everyone’s life, and we want to enhance your experience with it.

Services That Go Beyond Camera Sales and Equipment

That said, we have something for everyone’s lifestyle—from point-and-shoot cameras and smartphone accessories for novices to the most advanced lenses and lighting equipment for professionals. Whether you’re just getting started or getting serious, we can help you choose the best equipment from Nikon, Canon, Sony, and more. Best of all, we are one of only a few brick-and-mortar stores in the entire region still dedicated exclusively to our trade. Art’s Cameras Plus is known as a destination for a full range of photographic and imaging needs, offering so much more than sales. Equipment repairs, rentals, printers, scanning services, restoration, and memory rescue are some of our lesser known, but important offerings. At a time when technology, discount retailers, and online shopping have forced so many physical camera shops to close their doors, we are going strong and looking forward to our next 50 years.

Photography Experts at Your Service

We encourage you to stop in and meet our team of Certified Photographic Consultants (CPCs), who are photographers first and consultants second. We love what we do, and offer a level of service, selection, and support you just can’t find anywhere else:

  • See, hold, test, and compare cameras, lenses, and accessories in our two real stores staffed by true professionals.
  • Sign up for one of more than 20 classes offered each month, so you know exactly how to use and get the most out of every purchase.
  • Spend some time in our Digital Print Suite, editing and enhancing your images before ordering perfect prints to save and share.
  • Save during our 50th anniversary celebration—we have discounted hundreds of items to thank our customers for their loyalty and include them in the fun!

Art’s Cameras Plus is a family-owned, customer-focused business serving the Milwaukee area for five decades. Follow our blog for updates on the services and experience that makes us special.

What do golf and photography have in common? A constant pursuit of the perfect shot, a sense of community, or maybe it's the love for being outdoors. When you break it down, they are more similar than not. Each medium comes with its own stories and when you combine them together, you really get something special. That's why we partnered up with Random Golf Club this past year to help get a community of like minded people together and have fun doing what they love. Random Golf Club? You may have seen a post or two about our collaboration with Random Golf Club and were intrigued by who they are. If you are completely new to their brand, they are an amazing group of people led by the one and only, Erik Anders Lang. They set out to reshape the narrative of golf with the goal of making it a fun and accessible sport for all by building a community of like minded individuals. It doesn't take long to get the sense that they are a brand that believes in the power of storytelling and the impact it can have. CREATIVE SPOTLIGHTS What do golf and photography have in common?
